Foraging

Foraging is the practice of gathering wild food resources at no cost. While it has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years, for our distant ancestors, foraging was an essential component of daily life, born out of necessity. Notably, during World War II, the collection of wild rosehips to produce syrup emerged as a vital means for supplementing one's vitamin C intake, given the widespread restrictions on the importation of fruits like oranges. The process of foraging is often viewed as an ecologically responsible and sustainable means of obtaining food, as it reduces reliance on industrialized food systems, while promoting a deeper connection with nature. Furthermore, foraging can serve as a valuable source of nutrition, particularly in situations where access to conventional food sources is limited. Despite its numerous benefits, foraging requires extensive knowledge of plant identification, location, and harvesting techniques to ensure both personal safety and environmental conservation. Therefore, it is essential to undertake proper research and acquire relevant skills before engaging in foraging activities.

Chef Dyllan will cook you what you want, and how you want it. Whether it’s foraged and game meats, or classical French cuisines, we will make your dream of having a private chef come true. This fine dining experience brought to your house or property will not disappoint. Please send an email to check date availability. 50% paid up front. 250$ per a person, 5 person minimal.

Catering

Are you having a get-together with friends and looking for a unique catering option? Wild Foods By Dyllan is just what you’re looking for. Specializing in Ozark’s wild foods, including game meats and foraged foods, we will surely bring fine dining with a twist to your event. With over ten years of experience cooking in professional kitchens, you will not be disappointed, and we can even cater to “non-wild” foods. Prices start at 25$ a head—minimum of 15 people.
